Admiral Bubbles tricks Mom into believing she has accidentally killed him. Horrified, she flushes him down the toilet, then quickly buys an identical fish to replace him, hoping Beanie won't notice. Soon Beanie discovers the switch, and realizes that the goldfish cleverly faked his death. Needing help to hunt him down, he enlists the help of the building superintendent Mr. Montezino.  Beanie asks him to guide him through the sewers as he looks for his “lost pet” battling alligators, freezing water, and tidal waves of sewage before catching up to his goldfish. Admiral Bubbles has just pulled the main and sewage begins spilling out from every pipe in the city and pandemonium erupts. Mr. Montezino jumps into action, figuring out a way to temporarily divert the flow of sewage until it can be shut off. Beanie is left alone to fight his goldfish “mano-a-fisho” but they both seem destined to drown in a rising tidal wave of sewage. Fortunately, Mr. Motezino arrives, and gets the sewage system flushing the back the way they belong. Beanie gets credit for saving the city, and Mr. Montezino is awarded a plumber’s license.
