‘Shared Visions’ features interviews with artist and shaman Norval Morrisseau, Indigenous actress, Tantoo Cardinal, and the writers, producers, and animators of the series ‘Stories from the Seventh Fire’. It explores the creative vison, talent, and process that came together in the creation of the animated and live-action Indigenous traditional stories series. Young Cree actors gained pride in their identity as they recorded in a studio. The animation director worked with Norval to understand the character of Wesakechak, who also appears in rock paintings in Ontario. Norval, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease in his later years, talks about the healing power of engaging in the process of creating art. He says that he as an artist is only a channel, an instrument – the pictures speak for themselves.
