Mati and Dada meet painter Edgar Degas in Paris during a dance lesson while he is sketching ballerinas. He says drawing before you paint is important, and he combines many sketches into one composite containing different elements. In ‘The Ballet Class’, he shows everything he saw at the opera house dance class in one magical moment. A mirror reflects the room and what is outside the window. In ‘The Star’ he captures the excitement of a dancer performing an arabesque by including some back-stage figures, painted from a box seat high above the stage.

Seven-year old Mati is a cheerful girl with a wild imagination and a zesty passion for art. Along with her eccentric sidekick Dada, she’s magically transported into the lives of the greatest artists in history.

Together, these two friends go on exciting adventures with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. Hand in hand, they travel throughout time and art, solving mysteries and sometimes getting into trouble ~ all the while learning from the Masters themselves.
