This drama is based on the play "Death in the Afternoon', Part 3 of "The Hemingway Monologues" by Canadian actor and playwright, Brian Gordon Sinclair. It begins with a brawl at Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West, the town where Hemingway was able to enjoy sport-fishing and low cost living during the Depression. Few people there knew or cared that he was a writer. We see Hemingway enjoy the bars in Key West, solve the problem of tourists seeking his autograph, deal with his emotions after his father's suicide, survive a 3-day abandonment in the Dry Tortugas, save his son from a shark attack, bemoan the bankruptcy of his town and mourn the tragic deaths resulting from the devastating hurricane of 1935. Writing was his way of coping. Filmed at the Hemingway Home in Key West.
