Winter can be a long season, but Mooshum tells his granddaughter about all the fun outdoor things he did as a kid with his family. Today we learn words for our family – dad (nohtawi); mom (nikaawi);brother (nistes); sister (nimis); cousin (nitawimam); uncle (nohkomios); aunt (nitosis); grandpa (moshoom); grandma (kokom); family (nitotemak).

This is one episode of the 10-part Stories of the North Series that tells simple Indigenous stories in a fun and positive manner. The series is set in a northern cabin where Mooshum teaches his granddaughters Cree words through traditional stories, merging education with Indigenous language development interactively and authentically. Features Dr. Morris Cook (Mooshum) - Board Chair Northern Lights SD#113 and his granddaughters “Natanis” and “Sekwan” (played by Claire Walker and Mya Hoskins-Fiddler).
