The bittersweet memories of one man against the immense and tumultuous backdrop of the 20th century. The son of Russian communists and revolutionaries, Harry Gulkin grew up in Montreal during the Great Depression, when unemployment was rampant, evictions were commonplace and soup kitchens abounded. As a young adult, Harry already had the makings of a revolutionary and devoted half of his life to this utopian dream, until he discovered that his faith in communism was based on illusion. Harry ventured into film production. His Lies My Father Told Me was hailed by the critics and won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film. Harry had found a new vocation. A born storyteller, Harry unveils the humour, irony, pathos and anger of a man with nothing left to lose.
