A fable about love's illusions, Joséphine is an animated short set to the lively folk rhythms of the Acadian band Zéro^o Celsius. Finely executed drawings move with fluidity and inventiveness to tell the tale of a tender-hearted boy who fantasizes and falls prey to the pitfalls of seduction. Reeling from a succession of rejections from the girl he loves--alternately depicted as siren or mermaid--and lured by the bait she dangles in front of him, the thwarted lover keeps rebuilding his hopes only to see them dashed over and over again.
