In this program, we focus on the holidays, celebrations and traditions that are linked to the first peoples who settled our nation, the First Nations people, and later the French and English. You will examine holidays such as Canada Day, Victoria Day, St. John Baptiste Day, National Aboriginal Day, Thanksgiving and Remembrance Day. Other special days like Groundhog Day are uniquely North American in nature. And still other celebrations are regional in nature. We look at two, Louis Riel Day in Manitoba and Guy Fawkes Night in Newfoundland. Holidays and celebrations give us unique insight into our country. This program will introduce your students to the history and reasoning behind specific holidays that we celebrate here in Canada.
Hosted by four vibrant, young teens, the information is presented in a chaptered fashion allowing you to show it in its entirety or in segments.
