Filmmaker Jack Kuper wrote a memoir called ‘Child of the Holocaust’, a tale of a boy on the run during the Holocaust. When he read Jerzy Kosinski’s ‘The Painted Bird’ he suspected plagiarism of his book. Kuper traveled to Poland to find out if the renowned Holocaust novel was indeed Kosinski’s true story. When Kuper met with Kosinski they shared their similar youth experiences and celebrated having outsmarted Hitler by fleeing Poland. Colleagues and acquaintances paint a picture of this complex Polish-American literary celebrity. The documentary investigation has a shocking denouement.
