Experience a musical tribute to Aboriginal culture and residential school survivors. Thousands embarked on a journey of understanding and healing at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s first national event and you too can through this one-hour television special, Harmony: Song and Celebration at The Forks.
In June of 2010, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada staged its first national event in Winnipeg. This event was conceived as an important step toward recovery and forgiveness for the survivors of Indian Residential schools. In the shadow of a new Human Rights museum the survivors told their stories, celebrated their culture and for many, made the first steps toward healing.
Music was part of this healing. Artists from across North America who have contributed to the contemporary aboriginal identity were invited to perform – includes Blue Rodeo, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Ray Saint Germain, Tamara Podemski, Inez and more.
