Langley Secondary School girls’ basketball coach Sheldon Guy developed a special relationship with his BC team. He helped the players gain confidence, find joy in the game, and learn how to win. When his vision suddenly deteriorated, he was considering suicide, but an encouraging text from his son Jaidyn and a video of enthusiastic support from his team saved his life. He pivoted from his darkest hour and went back to coaching, relying on sound and assistant coaches. Coaching was his unwavering path to healing and inspiration. Perseverance is his motto.
