W5's John Woodward looks into a program at the University of British Columbia designed to groom Canada's future politicians. This summer institute was the brainchild of veteran Canadian politician Preston Manning; he hopes to improve the democratic process by helping students with political ambitions learned from experienced politicians and media personalities. In this seminar they learned how law-making works, how to present opinions effectively, how to deal with the media, and how to balance personal and political life. Participants were motivated and encouraged to run for government in real life, and Preston Manning hopes this seminar will become part of the regular UBC curriculum.
