In the past decade RIDE programs and awareness campaigns have succeeded in keeping many social drinkers off the road; however, many repeat offenders continue to kill. Although the law allows a maximum sentence of 14 years for drunk drivers who kill, the heaviest ever handed down was for eight years. W5 follows a two-week police sting during which 22 of 111 drunk driving offenders with suspended licenses (25%) drive away from court.
