With 1,800 officers, the Peel Regional Police force has had to face some serious challenges. Robberies, gang violence, and sexual assault are on the rise in Peel. In 2007, there were 17 murders. And 31 people were killed in motor vehicle collisions -- with a quarter of those related to alcohol. So, the Peel force had to change the way it polices the region. Peel Police use an innovative idea called targeted enforcement. Peel's analysts pinpoint when and where most crimes occur. And Peel boasts being the first police force in Canada to apply targeted enforcement to impaired diving.
