In this episode we meet the masters of metal – men and women who pit their human hands on one of the world’s toughest material to express tradition and ideals. In Beijing we meet Li Peiqing, a master of Chinese Cloisonne who changed traditional patterns and shapes being used for hundreds of years and introduced western aesthetics into traditional Chinese cloisonné artworks. Across the world, in Finland, Tiina Kivinen practices the ancient craft of Mezzotint, a print made from engraved metal plates that are scraped and polished to produce areas of light and shadow. Tiina uses this centuries-old technique to create modern, lifelike artistic pieces with astonishing tonality and depth.

Over in the village of Bambat in Bangkok, Thailand, Hirun Suesrisam perfects the craftsmanship of Buddhist alms bowls. Bambat is the only remaining village of traditional craftsmen where only eight remaining families still practice this art of making alms bowl by hand. Finally, in the "knife-city" of Thiers in France, we meet Jean Pierre Sucheras, master of the Laguiole knife, a high-quality traditional Occitan pocket-knife that is renowned for its distinct shape, unique to this specific part of the world.
