Joakim travels to Cocos Island, Costa Rica to be part of a shark tagging expedition. We will learn about the role marine protected areas play in the survival of the sharks and in the end the survival of the whole ecosystem and the planet. The scientist and founder of Turtle Island Restoration Network, Todd Steiner, is interviewed and we are brought into an unknown world deep below the water surface.
Joakim also travels along the west coast of Sweden to find out what impact our lifestyle has on the climate and the environment both above and below the sea surface, and the damage caused by the plastic that can be found everywhere. He visits the island of Gotland to find out more about the importance of the ongoing project of reintroducing cod in the Baltic Sea. He also learns more about alternative and sustainable ways of preventing algal blooming through mussel farming, and he gets to be part of freeing sharks into the wild in Sweden.
