Erin Goodpipe gives birth to her first child which brings both an immediate and long-term perspective as she thinks about the past and her baby’s future. She returns to her home territory of Treaty 4 in Saskatchewan and, with Saxon de Cocq, walks through the remains one of the residential schools and faces the terrible legacy of these institutions. They learn about the push to honour the memory of children that were lost at residential schools during this dark time in the all too recent history of Canada.

“Treaty Road” is an in-depth 6-part documentary series that follows Métis writer, director and producer Saxon de Cocq and Dakota/Anishinaabekwe educator and researcher, Erin Goodpipe as they travel the old roads to uncover the truth about the signing of the controversial documents, the Numbered Treaties. They examine the role that Saxon’s ancestor, James Mackay played in the numbered treaty negotiations.
