From downtown Montreal, hosts Brittany LeBorgne and Samian introduce us to musicians, dancers and activists.

  • Dalannah and Owen, teamed up together in 2014 for British Columbia's regional International Blues Challenge. Dalannah Gail Bowen has been performing her own unique blend of blues, jazz and gospel music for more than 50 years.
  • Sinuupa, born and raised in Northern Quebec, learned how to play guitar at 15. 'Culture Shock' is the title track of Sinuupa's 3rd album and explores Inuit views of Southern culture and vice versa.
  • The Ray Deer Dancers, perform a song and dance at the Montreal Aboriginal Day Live.
  • Maatalii Okalik, hails from Nunavut. Among her passions, Maatalii fights everyday to reclaim the Inuit language, culture, family, governance and relationship building. She wants Inuit youth to find their power and voice in their Inuit heritage that is full of resilience and strength.
  • Marijosée, is an artist from Manitoba. Her music is an energetic and original sound that mixes percussion, voice, guitar and rhythm.

The ABORIGINAL DAY LIVE 2017 SERIES features 8 episodes from 8 stages across Canada. For 15,000 years, the Aboriginal peoples of Turtle Island have gathered on this sacred day of the summer solstice to celebrate their culture, inspire their children and honor the wisdom of their elders. And this year people from every corner of the country celebrate National Aboriginal Day in the largest Aboriginal concert ever.
