Merchants of the Wild, Season 4 is a vivid documentary series mixing culture, survival, reconnection to the land, and adventure. It takes viewers back in time with six Indigenous Adventurers embarking on the journey of a lifetime, surviving 25 days on the land, paddling three birchbark canoes through the vast territory known to the Lnu’k (Mi’kmaq) people as Kespukwitk (Lands End), also called Southern Nova Scotia. Following old waterway trade routes used by Lnu’k, the Adventurers begin with only a few necessary tools and a limited supply of dried food. From day one they begin to decolonize, needing to rely on cultural teachings, each other, and the land to reach the end of their journey. During their adventure through various camps on winding rivers and secluded lakes, they meet Lnu Elders and Knowledge Holders who share culture, language, and traditional teachings to help them complete their journey and reconnect to who they are as Indigenous people.
