Lagoon City on Lake Simcoe was a ground-breaking community for Ontario. It was the first planned resort town in which every home had a boat dock in its backyard, and it inspired several others over the years. Despite its promises, though, its creator's vision would never fully come to life. As ecosystem knowledge evolves this town, built on former wetlands, could be seen as an environmental disaster.
In this episode of Living History, we'll visit the streets of Lagoon City, meet its creator's son (who helped work the grounds as a teen) and talk about its strengths and its flaws.
