The Restoration Planet team has arrived in Twillingate, Newfoundland & Labrador. They immediately connect with Shawn Bath and find his Clean Harbours Initiative has gained a lot of momentum. After 21 years as a commercial sea urchin diver, Shawn Bath grew increasingly troubled by the amount of trash he saw littering the bottoms of Newfoundland harbours. In July 2018, he decided to do something about it. Since creating Clean Harbours Initiative, Shawn has devoted his passion and energy to cleaning the harbours around Newfoundland, with a goal of removing 100,000 tires and 10,000 ghost nets, and 1,000,000 lbs of ocean trash. Shawn is a master at finding hidden coves that he calls collector basins. Wind and tide and storm surge bring in all manner of debris, most of it human made. After landing in one such cove the team go to work and before long have three boats filled with old nets, fish crates, plastic jugs and even a message in a bottle!
