Few people still live in southern Haida Gwaii (formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands) off British Columbia's northwest coast. Haida totem poles and the rusting remains of early industries (mining, whaling and fish canning) create haunting scenes of decay, which are heightened by archival film shots. More than the history of a particular place, this film also looks at how we perceive history itself.
