One of eight Canadians will at some time in their lives be admitted to a mental institution. This film shows how former mental patients and their friends formed the Vancouver Mental Patients' Association, a unique, democratically organized self-help group, to assist people during the critical post-release period. Members' comments afford some insight into what has been called the "mental health industry."
