Four Centuries: The Firearm in Canada is the story of firearms and the role they have played since the first musket was introduced in this country over 400 years ago. Dramatized historical scenes illustrate how guns were a necessity to the newcomers--to hunt for food, to protect crops from predators, and sometimes for self-defense. The film also looks at the contemporary use of firearms and, with the emphasis on responsibility and safety, demonstrates the correct handling of them in work and recreation.
