It's the story of two generations and two branches of the Fortin family of Lac St-Jean, Québec. One branch went west to the Peace River area of Alberta to found a French-speaking Catholic community in 1953. They reminisce about the early years without water or electricity in the style of the old-time pioneers. The other branch remained and evolved with a changing Québec. It is a story of two dreams of the French Canadian nation as represented by the members of one family.
