The giant panda is one of the most widely loved creatures in the world. Yet, with fewer than 1,000 of these beautiful creatures left in the wild, the panda could disappear forever.
Veterinarian Sue Mainka is a self-proclaimed "pandaholic" who plays a critical role in ensuring the pandas' survival. One of very few Westerners invited to go to China to help save the pandas, Mainka works with local specialists at a conservation centre in Szechwan Province, studying pandas in their wild bamboo-grove habitat and breeding them in captivity in order to boost their dwindling numbers. Sue Mainka could be the panda's last best hope for survival.
