The Indigenous Peoples in northeastern Canada, hunters and trappers, search for new territory with abundant game. When food and fur diminish in one area, they must find a district still rich in wildlife, or face starvation. In this film, the hunters travel in a birchbark canoe, living off the country as they proceed northward in their urgent quest. Duck, partridge, speckled trout and great northern pike provide their rations, and they glimpse moose and black bear, proof that they have reached their goal of a fresh and plentiful hunting ground.
