Rapid Lake, Quebec is a community divided by its stance on government organization; part of the community is loyal to the deposed traditional council fighting for greater territorial autonomy, while another faction supports a new band council appointed by the Federal government. This episode looks at the effects of this division and introduces us to both of the schools that are currently operating in this small community.
This episode also takes us to the nearby community of Kitcisakik where Kevin Papatie is using technology to teach Anishnabe to community youth. Papatie coordinates Wapikoni Studio where he makes films and covers events in other Algonquin communities, including activities relating to language preservation.
