This episode, filmed in the Abitibi region of Quebec, introduces us to the community of Lac Simon, home to some 1500 Algonquin people. At their camp in the woods, George and Maggie Wabanonick, a couple in their 40s, initiate a group of high school students to their traditional culture and language. Back in the classroom, the kids struggle with their weekly Algonquin lessons, while the pop group Anishnabe give the language new life with their inspiring, spiritual music and lyrics.

The documentary series ‘Finding Our Talk’ celebrates the many Canadian and international individuals, communities and organizations that are reclaiming their Indigenous languages, culture, stories, and identity.
