Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of International Development Week 2015 (IDW 2015). This year's theme is "we are making a difference." IDW aims to encourage Canadians - especially youth - to learn about and contribute actively to international development. IDW also highlights what Canada and Canadians are doing to make a better world. For many Canadians, as global citizens, this will be an opportunity to talk about what they have done to help make an impact in impoverished areas.
Our "MAKING A DIFFERENCE" streaming playlist can be shared with upper elementary, high school and college/university students. A wonderful resource for your Social Studies, History, Civics and Politics courses.
Playlist includes three programs:
TRANSFORMATIONAL CANADIANS (Vol 1) celebrates Canadians who have sought to make a difference. Includes Craig & Marc Kielburger, Free the Children; Dr. Samantha Nutt, War Child Canada; Dr. James Orbinski, Dignitas International; and Stephen Lewis, The Stephen Lewis Foundation.
HAITI'S AGONY shows how Free the Children founder Craig Kielburger and humanitarian Mia Farrow have helped Haiti recover from a devastating earthquake.
K'NAAN IN KENYA looks at the Somalian-born Canadian musician who is working to get the world to save thousands in the homeland he barely escaped.
