In this film, we travel back to the late 18th century France and follow the development of the French Revolution. We learn about King Louis XVI and his excesses; the three estates - clergy, nobility and bourgeoisie; the underlying causes of the revolution – tax increases, crop failure and unrest among the poor; the creation of a National Assembly; the Storming of the Bastille; the abolishment of feudalism; the Reign of Terror; Maximilien de Robespierre; and the aftermath of the French Revolution, a dramatic period that was so important in history. The French Revolution formed the basis for many of today’s political ideologies; the new idea of a fairer society spread around the world and a new social order started to develop.
