TVO Original TRIPPING The Niagara takes viewers on a 3 hour hawk’s-eye journey, soaring and gliding over the ever-changing and beautiful Niagara river and landscape.
It is three uninterrupted hours of breathtaking landscape while we discover Ontario’s Niagara region. From high above Forts and historic sites to skimming along the dangerous, emerald green waters of the Niagara River and ultimately ending at Niagara Falls.
The documentary has no narration or music just the natural sounds from the areas during the flight. On eight occasions, we move into an animated world to see the innerworkings of an engineering marvel, or to step into another time period.
The Niagara region has witnessed wars, technological firsts, tragedy and celebrity. It is a fertile land, carpeted in vineyards and orchards. It is also home to the most famous falls in the world.
As we discover these marvels of Niagara, on screen Factoids pop up with bites of information to explain what we are seeing and why it is important.
The documentary starts above Lake Ontario and explores the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake before flying up the river to discover a waterway that has more flora and fauna species than any other river in Canada. Our hawk ends its journey at Niagara Falls, where nature’s immense beauty is in competition with one of the glitziest streets in Canada.
