Gulf of Georgia Cannery, BCThe Gulf of Georgia is one of the last surviving nineteenth-century salmon canneries on the west coast. It was called the monster cannery when it was built in 1894, and was once BC's leading producer of canned salmon. The site evokes images not only of the west coast fishery, but the thousands of immigrant workers who sustained the industry.
