Isaac Newton, born in England 1643, is recognized as one of the most influential scientific minds of all time.  He improved on refractive telescopes when he built the first reflective telescope, using mirrors instead of lenses.  He formulated the three universal laws of motions: the law of inertia, the law of force and the law of action and reaction, laying the foundation for classical mechanics.  They describe all the physical phenomena that surround us. His universal law of gravitation predicts precisely how everything will behave in the known physical universe. The international unit that measures force was named after Newton.  His revolutionary theory that light was made up of particles was not proven until the 20th century. He also shared credit with German mathematician Liebniz for the development of modern calculus.  Newton was humbly aware of how much truth still lay undiscovered, and he continued to learn all his life.
