Former radio personality Andy Barrie, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease nearly a decade ago, says one of the biggest challenges with his illness is “the disconnect between who you are and what people see.” In a candid discussion with Dr. Marla Shapiro, Barrie spoke openly about how he has dealt with the disease, including having to carefully moderate his diet and medication schedule in order to get through an interview. In addition, we hear from Registered Physiotherapist Jan Goldstein Elman who discusses how exercise helps manage Parkinson’s symptoms and improve quality of life. Dr. Susan Fox, Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto details the latest treatments.
