In March, 2008, W-FIVE aired "Right to Know" -- an investigation into medical secrecy and the case of Toronto gynecologist, Dr. Richard Austin. In W-FIVE's original episode, Dr. Austin did not participate in an on-camera interview. His lawyer responded to a few questions in writing and confirmed that Dr. Austin continued to work at The Scarborough Hospital in accordance with an undertaking to restrict his practice to surgical assisting only. The Scarborough Hospital said that they took the appropriate steps in addressing concerns about Dr. Austin's practice.

But in the same month that "Right to Know" aired -- March 2008 -- Dr. Austin finally stopped working at The Scarborough Hospital. And, in September 2008, Dr. Austin undertook with the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons to resign and never again apply to practice medicine in Ontario or in any other jurisdiction."Right to Know" revealed that Dr. Austin had performed gynecological procedures even while his overseers at The Scarborough Hospital and administrators at the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons were aware of concerns related to his surgical and post-operative complications.
