John Hudak spent 24 years as a respected RCMP officer. That all changed in 2000, when Hudak started getting a number of mysterious, silent phone calls at home in Rocky Mountain House. When a 58-year old nurse, Mildred Johnson, alleged that Hudak had raped her, he went from respected cop to criminal suspect despite the support of his boss, a lie detector test that supported his innocence, and a lot of other evidence against the accuser. After acquittal of the charges against him, he was transferred to other divisions several times, but could not escape the shadow of the charges, even though his accuser was later charged with perjury, forgery and public mischief. He finally resigned. Hudak has since filed a lawsuit against the RCMP, the crown prosecutor and his accuser. He is trying to start over in a new town with a new career as an insurance adjuster. W5 tells the story.
