From Kindergarten to 7th grade, Kristie was a model student. In 8th grade Kristie changed and began drinking heavily and experimenting with marijuana. Her use progressed into high school and before she realized what was happening, the $1000 she had saved from a job, was gone. By 17 she was heavily into ecstasy and had moved out of her home. Kristie's substance abuse increased and she suffered a near fatal ecstasy overdose which caused a stroke and left her brain damaged. The doctor said he was surprised she lived through it. This wake up call sent Kristie to Detox. She is struggling to reconnect with her family and to regain control of her life.
