Industry contributes to pollution, but there are also green corporate heroes leading the way and making a positive impact on the environment. Willa Black, marketing executive at Cisco, an internet routing and switching company, created the One Million Acts of Green project. It highlights small acts individuals can take that contribute to overall environmental health – the human network effect. CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos helped to launch the campaign and they met their goal well ahead of schedule. Being effective in your own neighbourhood is key to making a difference in solving the environmental crisis.

David Suzuki started his career as a geneticist, but then he read Rachel Carson's 1962 book, "Silent Spring", which outlined the effects of pesticides. Her conclusions changed the way he looked at the world and how he did science, and he has dedicated his life to making a difference in the environmental world. His foundation partnered with Cisco to launch the "One Million Acts of Green" campaign, challenging people to change their habits for the greater environmental good.

Stuart Hickox had an inspirational idea, and Project Porchlight was born. He learned that if every North American replaced just one incandescent light bulb with a compact florescent light bulb, the reduction in pollution from power generation would equivalent to taking 800,000 cars off the road. He took a business oriented approach to environmental activism, and the idea spread across North America.

Co-founder of Bullfrog Power, Green Hero Tom Heintzman envisioned providing easy renewable energy solutions. Bullfrog Power is a 100% renewable electrictiy provider in Canada, and since 2005, they have attracted thousands of customers including Margaret Atwood, and Toronto Chef Jamie Kennedy. A company that once began in Ontario has now spread all across Canada, giving Canadians the ability to make greener choices. (They are now part of Spark Power Group)
