At Klemtu, in the Great Bear Rainforest, the Kitasoo Xai'xais First Nations people run a thriving ecotourism business. They banned trophy hunting in their territory in 2012 and their economy is built on conservation rather than extractive industries. This largest intact temperate rainforest on the planet, attracts people from many countries to stay at Spirit Bear Lodge and experience this special place. Guardian Watchers patrol the area to enforce the hunting ban, they hope to raise money to expand the protected area.
