Ambassador of the Sky is a documentary about the vital importance of dark sky preservation and the many ways in which Canada is taking part. This film takes us to Jasper, Wood Buffalo and Elk Island National Parks to discover the many places and organizations fighting to reduce light pollution. From Headliners like Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield at Jasper's Dark Sky Festival, to Astronomer Michelle Nichols speaking on the Aurora Borealis or Astrophotographer Yuichi Takasaka, this documentary explores the many facets of the night sky and beyond through awareness from experts to passionate astro amateurs. It documents the important work being done in Jasper National Park as Elder Wilfred Buck teaches First Nations Astronomy and its relevance in understanding the First Nations point-of-view. This film explores the importance of the dark sky in regards to the health of every human as well as the preservation of nocturnal species, and showcases how it is possible to become a Dark Sky Community through the exemplary town of Bon Accord.
