The Moohs find Lucy trying to get down from the loft and are concerned about her eyesight. Meanwhile, Gussy has found the chicken page missing from her animal book and one of Wilton's petunias is gone! Barton finds Haley trying to seal up the chicken house and discovers Haley’s secret. The Moohs take Lucy to town and she returns with new spectacles. They also have a crate in the cart. It turns out to contain Matilda, a hen for Haley.
