Some animals can transform themselves in impressive ways to survive. The Artic fox loses all its white winter hair in spring and becomes a brown fox. Pregnant naked mole rat mothers’ bodies get longer instead of bulging to fit in their underground tunnels. Some wrasse fish, born as females, later transform to males. Tiger salamanders transform their gills to lungs as their spring ponds dry up. Caterpillars all build a chrysalis during pupation, then emerge as a butterflies.
