For the villagers it is now clear that Salem is a battleground for Good versus Evil, with new accusations, arrests and examinations continuing daily. The main accusers are girls and young women, whose vivid dreams and visions are accepted as proof of witchcraft by the village leadership. In front of an unruly audience, each suspect, including a four-year-old, faces harsh questioning from biased authorities, as a mob of the afflicted shout accusations. Eventually, the afflicted young women stun the authorities when they name the ringleader behind the demonic conspiracy: a former minister of Salem Village, George Burroughs.
