Germany in the fall of 1923. The country is broke, inflation is soaring to dizzying heights.
People are starving and suffering from the consequences of World War I, and political conditions are unstable: the breeding ground for Hitler's National Socialist movement. At this time, 24-year-old Paula Schlier sneaks undercover into the editorial office of the Nazi party newspaper - and gets caught in the middle of a coup d'état. The attempt to seize power ends in a hail of bullets by the Bavarian police. Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch fails, but within a few years, he will bring democracy down.
Based on the diary of Paula Schlier.
