Colton is an 11-year-old Métis boy who lives in Camperville, Manitoba. He’ll introduce us to his family and show us all the musical instruments that he owns and is learning to play. His favourite is his fiddle – it used to be his great-grandfather’s, who showed him where it was in a dream! Colton is a very talented fiddle player – in fact he has a traveling band called Colton & The Métis Hillbillies. When he grows up he wants to be a professional fiddler who travels the world – he is off to a pretty good start! Colton also loves to help in his community – he grows veggies in a huge garden, and gives a lot of it away to the Elders. This year he grew the biggest pumpkin ever! He also likes to clean up his local beach – to make it beautiful for when he and his friends Jacob and Drake go there to play hide and seek and build big colourful sandcastles! Colton’s special word is “sit-roy” which means “pumpkin” in the Métis language.
