Mosquitoes, from Spanish for "little fly" measure between 0,5 and 1,5 cm and weight  just a few milligrams, yet they are the world's number one serial killer, with a gruesome 7 million dead and a further 10 million sick worldwide today.

The female of certain species, pierces the skin to feed on the blood of its host. The loss of blood is of little importance compared to the transmission of disease but what the world be like without these tiny annoying and potential disease carrying insects?
