A kitchen is the perfect place for children to see science in action. In this animated program, we learn all about electricity with Aaron and Dr Franklin. They perform a fun lemon battery experiment to make Aaron's stereo work. The citric acid of the lemon reacts with the zinc and loosens electrons. Copper pulls electrons more strongly than zinc, so loose electrons will move towards the copper when the electrodes are connected by wires. Moving electrons are called an electric current, which is makes Aaron's stereo work. Includes safety tips. Terms learned: acids, hydrogen ions, current, energy, positive and negative terminals. A recap and quiz at end of the program helps students retain the information.
