Follow four students - Samantha, Kareem, Henry and Maria as they try to figure out why their homework is so difficult to manage. Samantha feels overwhelmed by too much homework. Kareem has too many after-school activities to juggle. Henry is a procrastinator. Maria is having emotional troubles that make it hard for her to concentrate.
This program uses kids in actual homework "stress" situations to teach basic homework skills. Kids learn that homework is a useful learning tool that reinforces school work, but sometimes it takes problem-solving by kids, parents and teachers to make daily homework a success.
Topics include:
- how to remember assignments
- how to schedule homework into busy days
- how to plan for projects, special events and tests.
Program emphasizes that homework success needs a quiet, regular routine; good communication between students, parents and teachers; breaking big homework assignments down into manageable parts; and, planning, organizing and checking. Viewers learn how to use a homework agenda book to organize assignments and after-school activities. The message is clear - successful homework skills take effort, practice and time to learn.
