The narrators spend time explaining that eating disorders are serious yet curable illnesses that can happen to anyone. Viewers will learn that eating disorders are often related to a person's concerns about body image and self-esteem. Understanding Anorexia & Bulimia also examines the dangerous mindset that can arise when young people base their expectations for how their bodies should look upon the perfectly sculpted physiques of Hollywood actors and glamorous media figures.
